3D Project Progress Report

This turret is my first attempt at modelling the vehicle, using images of the fv4005 tank I replicated it as best I could. I added a metal sheet on the gun barrel to act as a make-shift gun mantlet, the tip of the barrel also has a sort of iron sight for when the optics were broken.
The floating piece in the background is a pipe for the fumes from the tank. At this stage I'm fairly happy with the shape of the base, I create a low poly version over the top using quad draw to use in the final in-game model.

3d Project

The brief for this project was similar to the last 3D project, but this time I wanted to create something of a bigger scale. I started looking at tanks and armoured vehicles, but after finding a shape I liked, I found that it would probably not take too long to create the actual shape. That is when I began to look at post-apocalyptic vehicles.
The armoured vehicle I decided to base my design on is the Patria AMV, I thought the shape was interesting and left room to bolt on rusty metal plates and supplies. For inspiration on the apocalyptic look I used mainly Mad Max and the Ork race from Warhammer 40,000.
After looking for some references, I decided that the base vehicle was not enough. I came up with a design that incorporated a tank turret and plow.
To better visualise the design I created a quick mock-up in Photoshop that included the elements I decided on. I plan on having three texture sheets; the turret, the hull and a combination of the plow, wheels and gun.

Pulse Rifle in Unreal Engine 4

This is the final outcome, both my pulse rifle model and the crates inside Unreal Engine 4. I created a small room using the starter package assets within Unreal. I used a single spotlight to highlight the models using a lighting resolution of 512, I also edit the lighting to appear slightly colder to better represent the space setting of the Alien universe.

Alien Crate

To populate my Unreal 4 scene I wanted some sort of crates to arrange my pulse rifle on. I could not find anything sufficient on the asset store online. I decided to quickly make one myself. I based it loosely on what is found on the set of the Alien movies.
Low poly model.
UV map.
High poly Maya model.
High poly ZBrush model.
Finished textures and maps on low poly model.

Quixel Suite Textures

These are the final textures for each piece. I'm very pleased with the outcome. Each piece has several material textures ranging from dirt and dust to plastics and metals.
The under-slung shotgun and barrel.
The casing and stock.
The trigger, grip and magazine.

Quixel Suite

After creating a project including all the separate, this was the outcome in Quixel Suites 3DO viewer.

The model looks great, but I need to do the 3 parts separately to reduce loading/rendering times, as well avoiding confusion in folder structures.

Maya - UV Unwrapped Alien Pulse Rifle

After finishing up the low-poly model, next was to UV unwrap it. Using the same groupings, I created 3 separate UV maps for the model.

Each of the finally texture sheets will be 4k resolution.
