Alternate Lava Monster

The task for this week was all about lava. Carrying on from the tutorial session , I had to design and create my own lava monster. I took inspiration from real lava as well as some golem-like creatures covered in stone slabs being kept together with molten rock.
Here is the original sketch I did, I was going to draw a golem creature like the above, but I felt that wasn't very original. I wanted the creature to appear like an animal, in this instance a wolf. I drew it in a dynamic pose with a lot of foreshortening and movement, it helped fill out the page.
Now I added the parts that make it into a lava monster, large stone slabs make up the muscle forms of the creature and give it the look of the animal. I added fire arching out the back and from the tail to appear as fur.
Now to add colour. I used the same technique taught in the tutorial session, using an off-white with a glow effect and adding over a texture found online, the stone areas also have an over-layed texture to break up the colour more-so.
This is the final outcome with an added background, I created a background similar to that I did during the tutorial. I also lit up the area underneath, showing that the lava and fire are giving off light.
